About the EUSR Cat 1 & 2 Course
Category 1 covers everything that is required to safely detect buried utility services and will teach you how to use recognised and approved detection methods. Category 2 provides you with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely excavate and maintain holes and trenches using both hand tools and handheld power tools.
If everything that is covered in both courses is applicable to you, then the combined course is the perfect option. Taking place across 1 ½ days, it allows you to complete both categories without needing to find time to travel to and attend courses separately.
What Will You Learn?
This course is delivered through a mix of practical and theory-based exercises and tutorials and is suitable for both managers and operatives. You will learn how to do the following:
- Interpret utility plan drawings and identify symbols and coded information
- Prepare and use location equipment to locate a range of underground services
- Identify the dangers and hazards associated with underground services and excavations
- Recognise why some services are more difficult to locate
- Ensure all necessary location, marking and site safety provisions have been carried out correctly prior to any excavation work commencing
- Select and use safe digging techniques to carry out and maintain excavations
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive your EUSR accredited certificate and ID card. These are both valid for 3 years.
