If an employer has identified that first aiders are required in their workplace, the HSE state that they must ensure anyone selected to become first aiders undertake the appropriate training. Courses can be undertaken at our training venues of if you have several delegates, the course can be delivered at your premises.
What is covered in the course?
The 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work courses are accredited by TQUK to comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. The course covers the following aspects of first aid to ensure that in an emergency situation you will be confident in delivering potentially lifesaving first aid:
- The role of a First Aider
- First aid priorities
- Unconscious casualties
- Shock
- CPR
- Bleeding
- Choking
- Scalding and burns
- Anaphylaxis
- Casualty transportation
- Accident reporting
- Use of an AED
Assessment
This course can be undertaken at one of our training venues of if you have 6 delegates or more, the course can be delivered at your premises. There is an open, written response to complete for this course as opposed to an exam which can be completed throughout the course or as a group exercise at the end to compound your first aid knowledge.
Certificate
Your certificate will last for a period of three years, following which you will need to take refresher course before the existing certificate expires, although under current guidelines it is recommended to refresh your first aid training every year.
