About Temporary Works Coordinator Courses
There are no previous qualifications required to take this course, however, the CITB stipulate that;
- The main aim of the course is to focus on the processes involved in temporary works particularly the role of the TWS.
- This is not a temporary works technical awareness course, although there are elements of technical awareness signposted throughout and included in the course exercises.
- Attendance alone does not confer competency which comes from a combination of education, training and experience, as judged by an appropriate senior individual, most usually the designated individual (DI).
- Training is considered an essential element of TWS competence.
An Overview of the Temporary Works Coordinator Training Course:
Temporary works are often high risk and business-critical therefore require careful co-ordination. The course trains delegates as to the need for a TWC and on the importance of the 4 C’s in addition to:
- Understanding the duties of the Temporary Works Co-ordinator
- Understand the roles of others
- Understand the BS5975 and the code of best practice
- Temporary Works Overview
- Statutory aspects of temporary works
- Risk assessments and method statements
- Management of the temporary works process
Target Zero deliver the CITB TWC course both remotely and in various classroom venues upon request.
Certificate:
The certificate lasts 5 years, following which career progression can lead to undertaking the Temporary Works Coordinator course.

We ask you to complete an Initial Assessment via a link that is emailed to you. It is a CITB requirement that all delegates have a sufficient level and understanding of English to take the course.
